World Cup for Sweden was in 1934. This will be their 12 WC final tournament,
first after 2006.
BEST RESULT: Their best result Sweden achieved on home soil in 1958
when they finished second. Sweden took first place in a group with Mexico,
Hungary and Wales. In quarter final they were better then Soviet Union. In
semi-final they were losing from W. Germany but till end host scored 3 goals
and went into final. In a 1958 WC final Sweden played against Brazil. In a
great final match we could seen 7 goals. Nils Liedholm scored in fourth minute
of the match. But their lead didn't lasted too long as Vava scored in 9th min. Vava scored another goal which gave Brazil the lead. Pele and
Zagallo added two more goals. Till the end of match Simonsson scored second
goal of Sweden while played scored one more for Brazil.
