UEFA EUROPEAN CHAMPIONSHIP TOP SCORERS

First European championship was held in 1960 in France. Since we are talking about goalscorers, Ronaldo scored the most goals in tournament history: 12 goals. Platini is second with 9 goals. All of them came in the 1984 tournament edition. He played five matches which is an average of 1,80 goals per match. Johan Vonlanthen is the youngest goalscorer (18y 141 days; vs France in 2004) while Ivica Vastić is the oldest (38y 257 days; vs Poland in 2008). Dmitri Kirichenko needed only 67 seconds to score against Greece in 2004 which is the fastest goal in EURO history.

Fracois Heutte, Dražan Jerković, Milan Galić, Valentin Ivanov and Viktor Ponedelnik: 2 goals each

EURO 1968:

Gerd Muller with four goals

EURO 1976:
Dieter Muller DBF West Germany EURO 1976
Gerd's namesake Dieter was top scorer of 1976 EURO edition with four goals.

EURO 1980:
Third time in a row that German was a top scorer. This time Klaus Allofs scored three goals.

EURO 1984:
Michel Platini scored nine goals which is a record for one player in one tournament.

EURO 1988:
Five goals from Marco as Netherland won their first and only EURO title. 

EURO 1992:
Four players scored three goals in Sweden '92: Dennis Bergkamp, Henrik Larsen, Karlheinz Riedle and Tomas Brolin.

EURO 1996:
Alan Shearer with five goals.

EURO 2000:
Patrick Kluivert and Savo Milošević scored five goals each

EURO 2004:
Milan Baroš was top scorer in 2004 with 5 goals.

EURO 2008:
David Villa scored four goals as Spain won their second EURO title.

EURO 2012:
Even six players scored three goals. They are: Alan Dzagoev, Cristiano Ronaldo, Fernando Torres and three Mario's: Balotelli, Gomez and Mandžukić. Officialy golden boot was given to Torres. Except 3 goals he also had an assist, same as Gomez, but played less minutes.

EURO 2016:
With six goals Griezmann won golden both in 2016.

EURO 2020:
Cristiano Ronaldo with 5 goals. Schick scored same as he but CR added one assist.

FOOTBALL FAMILIES ON UEFA EUROPEAN CHAMPIONSHIPS

Here I will represent you football families of UEFA European championships. Father and sons, brothers or some other relations where both of them represented their nations on EURO finals. 

Like father like son is something that what we can say for this post. Many fathers passed their football love on their kids. Lot of those kids followed their father footsteps and also became a footballers. Here I will represent you father and sons who both represented their nation on UEFA EURO final tournaments.

Not also father/son but also brother love for football which is more represented as we are talking about "families" on UEFA EUROs.

Most of them comes from Netherlands where we have even six pairs. 



Brothers Xhaka, Taulant and Granit (Albania / Switzerland): Both born in Basel to Albanian parents. While Taulant, who represented Switzerland in youth national team, decided to play for Albania on senior level his younger brother Granit chosen to play for Switzerland national team. They faced each other in the Albanian opening match of EURO 2016 becoming the first pair of brother to play against each other in the entire EURO history.

Brothers Millecamps, Marc and Luc (Belgium): Both brothers are Waregem legends as they spent their entire careers with that club. Both were part of Belgium national team in EURO 1980 where they reached final and lost from W. Germany. While Marc played only 6 matches for The Red Devils, Luc was much more important national team player in early 80s gaining 35 caps.

Brothers Mpeza, Mbo and Emile (Belgium): Both brothers were one of the main Belgium players in late 90s and 2000s. Emile gained one cap more then his brother Mbo (57 > 56) and both played on EURO 2000.

Father and son Verheyen, Jan and Gert (Belgium): Jan was Belgium national team player during 60s and 70s and represented them on EURO 1972. His son Gert played for The Red Devils on EURO 2000. Jan played 33 matches and his son 50.

Brothers Lukaku, Romelu and Jordan (Belgium): Both brothers played for Belgium at EURO 2016. While Romelu is the top scorer in the history of The Red Devils, Jordan played only eight matches.

Brothers Hazard, Eden and Thorgan (Belgium): Older of them, Eden, already played more then 100 matches for the national team. Thorgan made his debut in 2013. They both represented Belgium on EURO 2020.


Uncle and nephew Penev, Dimitar and Lyuboslav (Bulgaria): Former Bulgarian national team player Dimitar was also a national team coach from 1991 to 1996 and lead them on EURO in England. His nephew Lyuboslav played on that EURO.


Brothers Kovač, Niko and Robert (Croatia): Kovač brothers represented Croatia on two EUROs 2004 and 2008.


Father and son Kadlec, Miroslav and Michal (Czech Republic): Miroslav was part of Czech team which played in EURO 1996 final. His son played on two EURO tournaments 2012 and 2016.


Brothers Jensen, Niclas and Daniel (Denmark): Both brothers were vital part of DBU national team in 2000s. The older one, Niclas, gained 62 caps while Daniel had 10 less. They were part of Denmark on EURO 2004.


Brothers Laudrup, Michael and Brian (Denmark): One of the most famous brothers in football history. Both brothers played for lot of great clubs and represented their country in more then 190 occasions combined. Each of them played on two EUROs. Michael in 1988 and 1996 while Brian was part of a surprisingly winning team on EURO 1992 plus EURO in England 1996.


Cousins Molby, Jan and Johnny (Denmark): The older cousin represented Denmark on EURO in France 1984 while Johnny was part of the winning team in 1992.

Father and son Schmeichel, Peter and Kasper (Denmark): Father won the EURO in 1992 while this is the first EURO for his son Kasper.

Brothers Charlton, Jack and Bobby (England): Legendary English brothers who were active players during 50s, 60s and 70s. One of them is Leeds United legend while other represented Manchester United for 17 seasons. Both represented England on EURO 1968. The older brother Jack was also Ireland manager on EURO 1988.


Brothers Neville, Gary and Phil (England): Both Manchester United youth school products. Phil played on three EUROs: 1996, 2000 and 2004 while Gary jointed his brother on last two.


Cousins Jamie Redknapp and Frank Lampard (England): Both their fathers were footballers and teammates at West Ham. We are talking about Harry Redknapp and Frank Lampard Sr. Lampard Sr. married Harry's wife sister. Their kids, Jamie and Frank, represented England national team on European championships. Jamie represented The Three Lions in 1996 on home soil while Frank Jr. played in Portugal in 2004.


Brothers Forster, Bernd and Karl-Heinz (West Germany): Defenders, both played for Germany national team and mostly for Stuttgart. Both were part of national team who finished first on EURO in Italy 1980.


Father and son Kapsis, Anthimos and Mihalis (Greece): Panathinaikos legend Anthimos represented Greece on their first EURO in 1980 while his son was part of the team that were crowned champions in 2004.


Brothers Baresi, Giuseppe and Franco (Italy): While the older one is Inter legend the other, Franco, played his entire career for Milan. Both were part of Italian team on EURO 1980 which was played on their home soil while Franco also played in 1988 in West Germany.

Father and son Chiesa, Enrico and Federico (Italy): Father represented his nation in 1996 while his son played in 2020 edition.


Brothers de Boer, Ronald and Frank (Netherlands):  One of the several famous Dutch football brothers. Except national team they both were teammates in Ajax, Barcelona and Rangers. Both played on 2000 European championship. Ronald also played in 1996 edition while Frank in 1992 and 2004.


Father and son Cruyff, Johan and Jordi (Netherlands): Dutch legend Johan played for Holland in Yugoslavia on EURO '76. Jordi started his carrer in Barcelona where his father was a manager and later represented Holland on 1996 EURO.  


Brothers van de Kerkhof, Rene and Willy (Netherlands): Another famous Dutch twin brothers. Both played for Twente and PSV but also represented national team on two EUROs: 1976 and 1980.


Brothers Koeman, Erwin and Ronald (Netherlands): Koeman's started their careers with Groningen. Both were part of a national team that won EURO title in 1988. Younger brother Ronald also played on EURO 4 years later.


Bert van Marwijk and his son-in-law Mark vam Bommel (Netherlands): Bert was Netherlands manager from 2008 to 2012 and lead them on EURO in Poland and Ukraine and his son-in-law was captain of the team.


Brothers Witschge, Rob and Richard (Netherlands): Older brother Rob represented Dutch national team on EURO 1992 while his brother played on EURO four years later. 


Brothers Evans, Jonny and Corry (Northern Ireland): Brothers Evans represented N. Ireland on their only EURO in 2016.


Brothers Ribeiro, Maniche and Jorge (Portugal): Maniche was part of the squad that finished as runner-up on home soil in 2004 while his brother Jorge was part of the team four years later.


Father and son Veloso, Antonio and Miguel (Portugal): Antonio represented Portugal at EURO 1984 while his son was part of two EURO squads: 2008 and 2012.


Brothers Berezutski, Aleksei and Vasili (Russia): Famous Russian twin brothers played together on two EUROs: 2008 and 2016. Aleksei also played in 2012 which his brother missed to do injury.


Milenko Ačimovič and his brother-in-law Dejan Stanković (Slovenia / FR Yugoslavia): Stanković married Milenko's sister. Both represented their nations at EURO 2000.


Brothers Andersson, Patrik and Daniel (Sweden): Sons of former Swedish international Roy played together at EURO 2000. Older brother Patrik was part of the team that reached semi-finals on home soil in 1992 while Daniel also played in 2008.


Brothers Yakin, Murat and Hakan (Switzerland) Brothers of Turkish descent represented Swiss national team at EURO 2004 while Hakan also played four years later.

Brothers Ristovski, Stefan and Milan (North Macedonia): Both of them played for the national team on their first ever major tournament.

Father and son Larsson, Henrik and Jordan (Sweden): Legendary Swedish striker represented his national team on three EUROs. His son Jordan made international debut in 2018 and was chosen to represent Sweden on EURO 2020.

Father and son Thuram, Lilian and Marcus (France): Lilian represented Les Blues on four EUROs winning the 2000 edition. His son Marcus made his debut for the national team in 2020 and was chosen to represent them on postponed 2020 EURO.
