BEST RESULT: Belgium's best result comes from the last World cup played in Russia. They finished third and surprisingly beat fourth place won back in 1986. They were in Group G and won all 9 points. First two wins were with three goals difference against WC debutant Panama (3-0) and Tunisia (5-2). Minimal win versus England (1-0) for 3 out of 3. We saw a great match in the first knock-out stage. After a goalless first half, Japan scored two early goals. Belgium managed to equalize with Vertonghen and Fellaini goals. Nacer Chadli scored a last minute winner. Next match was against Brazil, five times WC winner. Belgium went on the break with a two goals lead. Renato Augusto scored one for Brazilians but it wasn't enough. Semi-final match was a minimal loss from France with a goal scored by Umtiti. Match for third place was a group stage reply with the same result, Belgium winning. This time they scored two goals. 2-0 for their best WC result.
