BEST RESULT: Their best result was a round of 16 in 1990. About that generation is filmed a movie "Italia 90". In 2014 they achieved an even better result when they reached the quarter-final. As you probably know they took first place in a very hard group with three previous WC winners: Uruguay, Italy and England. In the first group match they were better than Uruguay, then Italy and in the last match Costa Rica drew with England. In round of 16 Costa Rica faced Greece and after 1-1 in regular time they went through after penalties (5-3). In the same way, the Netherlands kicked them out in the next round. After 0-0 in 120 min Oranje was better on penalties (4-3). At the end Costa Rica finished 8th from 32 nations.
