Russian manager and former footballer. He played football professionally in Russia, Germany and Austria. He played for Soviet Union, CIS and Russian national teams. He represented CIS on EURO 1992 and later Russia in USA 1994 and England 1996. 49 matches in total. In 2004 Stan started his coaching career. He managed Spartak Moscow, Terek, Amkar, Dynamo Moscow, Legia W... In 2016 Cherchesov was appointed as Russian manager and led them to the quarter final of the last World Cup.

EUROPEAN CHAMPIONSHIP RECORD: From 1960 to 1988 Russia was part of Soviet Union and in 1992 as CIS. From 1996 Russia missed only one EURO final tournament.
BEST RESULT: Soviet Union won first ever edition of EURO in 1960. They also played in three more finals. CIS finished last in their group stage of 1992 EURO. Best result for Russia is the semi-finals in 2008. They were in group D with Spain, Sweden and Greece having won two of three and finished second. They lost the first match from Spain and won two others. In the quarter-final they were drawn with Holland who, by then, had won all of their three group stage matches. Great wins against Italy and France. Regular time finished 1-1 with van Nistelrooy goal in 86 min of the match. Torbinski and Arshavin scored for Russia and they could celebrate a big victory. In the semi-final match Russia again played against Spain. Final outcome was the same, three goals difference for Spain national team. 4-1 in the group stage and 3-0 in the semi-final match. There wasn't match for 3rd place.
