Former footballer who played for Estoril and Maritimo in first and second portuguese league. He retired at the age of 33 when he started his coaching career. Santos was manager of all three big clubs in Portugal, several clubs in Greece including their national team. From 2014 he is manager of Portugal national team. He led them to their only EURO title which happened in France at the last European championship.

They were better than a big surprise of the tournament Wales. Ronaldo and Nani scored for 2-0 win. Their last opponent for the title was host nation France. Another Portugal match in this tournament went into extra time after a goalless draw in regular time. Eder was Portugal's hero with a goal in 109 min. It was the first Portugal title in big tournaments.
