The Derby d'Italia is the name given to football matches
between Inter and Juventus. This term was first used back in 1967 by Italian sports
journalist Gianni Brera. Both this clubs comes from Northwest Italy and both
are from capital cities from their regions. The most important moment in
history of this derby is 1960/61 season. After a pitch invasion during their match,
Lega Calcio awarded the match to the Inter but they later changed their
decision and ordered a reply. Inter president Angelo Moratti and their fans got
realy angry. Moratti accused the Italian football federation of favouritism
Juventus because of Umberto Agnelli who was president of Italian football
federation. Agnelli family was/is a owner of Juventus since 1923. In protest
for that decision, Inter fielded their youth players for the reply and were
thrashed 9-1. Since then started rivalry between these two clubs.
