CHAMPIONS LEAGUE 2019/20 MANAGERS DURING THEIR PLAYING DAYS

This will be 28th edition of modern UEFA Champions League. This is debut season for Atalanta in CL groups. Liverpool are defending champion. 

Here are all club managers during their playing days. Two of them never played football professionally: Felice Mazzu of Genk and Jindrich Tripšovsky of Slavia Prague.

Promoted teams are Brescia, Lecce and Hellas Verona.

Stefano Pioli (Verona / Milan): Former Italian footballer Pioli is a new manager of AC Milan. He already coached many Italian clubs including other Milan club, Inter.


Claudio Ranieri (Catanzaro / Sampdoria): With bad results at the start of the season Sampdoria replaced Francesco with Claudio Ranieri. Genoa's club will be 8th italian club in his coaching career.


Thiago Motta (Genoa): Former Brazilian born Italian footballer is a new manager of Genoa. He was their player in 2008/09 season. He last coached U-19 team of PSG.


Fabio Grosso (Inter / Brescia): World Cup champion with Italy is a new coach of Brescia.


Luca Gotti (? / Udinese): Gotti replaces Tudor as Udinese manager.


Eugenio Corini (Chievo Verona / Brescia): Brescia sacked Grosso after three straight defeats without a single goal. Eugenio Corini comes back.

 
Gennaro Gattuso (Perugia / Napoli): Former Italian national team player replaces Ancelotti on Napoli bench.


Davide Nicola (Genoa): New manager of Genoa is Davide Nicola their former footballer.


Moreno Longo (Torino): New manager of Torino is Moreno Longo, former Italian footballer who begun his playing career exactly with Torino. 


Diego Lopez (Cagliari / Brescia): Cagliari legend Diego Lopez is a new manager of Brescia. He already worked with several Serie A clubs.


Luigi Di Biagio (Foggia / SPAL): Last placed SPAL have a new manager. It is former Italian national team player Luigi Di Biagio.


Walter Zenga (Inter / Cagliari): Former Italian goalkeeper is a new manager of Cagliari.
